In the 1940s, George Borg, known for inventing the automatic transmission, transformed Casa Blanca estate into a corporate retreat and added a 2,600-foot dirt airstrip to accommodate private aircraft.
The airstrip, oriented southeast/northwest, was constructed to facilitate private flights directly to the property, enhancing its exclusivity. In the mid-1950s, the property was sold to investors who developed it into the Casa Blanca Inn, a public resort that continued to utilize the airstrip for guests arriving by private planes. However, by the late 1950s, portions of the property, including the airstrip, were sold off for residential development. By the early 1960s, the airstrip was closed, and the land was repurposed for housing.
