Kellogg died shortly after completing the beautiful hacienda which would soon be named Casa Blanca. In 1944, famed industrialist George Borg, best known as the inventor of automatic transmission, bought the hacienda as a winter home and retreat for Borg Warner executives and his many friends. Mr. Borg’s expansions included stables, a pool, extensive gardens, an airstrip and the dome. Mrs. Borg, a private pilot, used the dome as a navigational landmark. It was opened in 1948 after adding 30 rooms/casitas. In 1948, 18 more rooms were added and the Casa Blanca was created.
